Irving K. Barber : ウィキペディア英語版
Irving K. Barber

Irving K. "Ike" Barber (February 14, 1923 April 13, 2012) was a Canadian forest industrialist and philanthropist. Born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1923, Barber graduated from UBC in 1950 with a degree in forestry. In 1978, aged 55, Barber founded Slocan Forest Products, a lumber producing company. Barber served as Slocan's chairman until his retirement in 2002. Barber died at his home in Tsawwassen, British Columbia in 2012 at the age of 89.
Barber used his resource-based fortune to become one of British Columbia's most prominent education philanthropists. Barber's $20 million donation to UBC would result in the construction of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. Barber also donated money to many other schools across British Columbia. Barber helped to establish the Irving K. Barber Scholarship Society and UNBC's I.K. Barber Enhanced Forestry Laboratory.
